Samuel Adams

Samuel Adams was a major catalyst for the American Revolution. He was well-known for his articles and essays about the right for fairness and justice in government and promoted his ideas at bars and meeting halls.

Samuel led protest against the Stamp Act of 1765, which was passed by the British Parliament on March 22, 1765 requiring that american colonists pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. He was founder of the Sons of Liberty, principal organizer of the Boston Tea Party, member of the Continental Congress, and signer of the Declaration of Independence.

"It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds." -Samuel Adams

Samuel's strong belief in independence and his ability to persuade support for the cause of freedom earned him the name "the Father of the American Revolution."
